I was driving along the Sampaguita Village on my way to Pacita when I saw an old lady standing and waiting for spare change from the cars that were passing by. I saw her twice. The second time, I rolled down my window. She was facing the other way so she didn’t see me immediately. She actually first saw the white car on the opposite lane with the windows down as well, thinking that the driver would give a little help. Three teenagers was inside that car, and the driver shouted at her, saying she’d better get out of their way; thinking she was purposely blocking the road, forcing people to give her change. When in fact she was just crossing the road, back and forth, very slowly because of her old age.
The white car kept moving. Then I shouted out, “Nay! Ito ho!” She turned around and quickly replied, “Salamat! Pangkain lang kasi iha. Salamat!”
I don’t know if they were old enough to even be driving, and I don’t really care if they’re from the Ayala family. I don’t even know if the old lady was faking it or not, or if she had done something very cruel or wrong in the past for her to end up that way.
But frankly, no kid nor teenager has the right to think that they’re better than older, or even other people just because they or their families have money. Better yet, no human being even deserves to beg.
If you really come from a decent family, act like one.
