Payless

My mom bought these shoes from Payless, and yes, I use it and I love it.

A couple of weeks ago, my mom randomly opened up to me. She does that. She somewhat wanted to apologize, saying sometimes she feels bad because my sister and I don’t have the latest gadgets. That even if iPhone 6 was already released, we still answered for iPhone 5 when asked what we wanted for our birthday because we knew it would be cheaper. She said she sometimes feels guilty when she doesn’t buy us branded shoes worth 10,000, or so.

I laughed. But I was actually really sad that she even thought of that. Maybe parent’s instincts? I told her, “Ma, not everyone gets to leave the country, let alone ride a plane. Not everyone gets a driver’s license, let alone drive a car. You have raised us so much better than you think you have.”

Just because you don’t have the Ayala life doesn’t mean your parents raised you wrong. Learn that money is never a measurement of how well your parents raised you or can raise you.
