Marketing is shifting away from the Sales-driven business principles and is now a user-driven industry. Today, marketing agencies are even booming due to the great impact of digital and technological advancements over the recent years.
Brand & Mortar is part of said industry, having been operating since 2012. Their headquarters is at 31 Powerhouse Street, Toronto Canada, but they now also established an office in San Diego, California. They brand themselves as the “best marketing specialists.”
They are a marketing agency that specializes in brand marketing, social media and digital marketing, web design and development, search engine marketing, video production, public relations and technology and application development. Their teams are composed of digital marketers, designers, and developers.
They currently have only 10 employee profiles up their website which features from Founder and CEO all the way to to their developers.
The company has great reviews on UpCity.com, talking about how effective their performance is and how satisfied clients are with their results. They also have big-time clients such as MasterCard, UPS, Toshiba, Intel, and BMO. However, looking at their history, we can still assume that they are still at their early stages despite these big clients.
Start-up companies like Brand & Mortar are great places to work with because you get to build your career forward with them.
In fact, their reviews on GlassDoor.ca highlighted that it is ‘a great learning experience to learn and grow with a great team’. Their employee profiles on the website and one review on GlassDoor.ca also give us an idea that the company is mainly composed of young people—giving even more room to grow to every employee and giving a lot more, if not entirely, creative autonomy.
Of course, being a start-up company with a young team has its cons. Because the number of people and experience combined is a bit constraint, desired results become heavy workload taken out on each employee. One comment even clarified that they were overworked and that they need to invest more time in ensuring their employees are not overwhelmed.
Despite these challenges, one review still supports the company, saying “[Brand & Mortar] invests a great deal in culture and building a place to work that is truly enjoyable.”
Creative industries like these also like thinking out of the box, and usually hire people with the same mind-set. One online review from their former employee also mentioned that they did a great job of hiring creative thinkers and social folks. Working with helpful, enjoyable, and friendly people pushes any employee into a comfortable environment. The online review from a former employee even empowered the company to “keep investing in the people who make you great!”
Though they have struggles, young companies like Brand & Mortar are perfect to get hands on experience, and learn every detail you need to learn to make you 100% capable and dependable in the industry.
