Things happening for a reason

10 years ago, I never planned on going to University of Santo Tomas, or staying in Journalism, or becoming a Marketer, or going abroad, or moving to Calgary, or even working with apps and prototypes.

They were all unstable ideas and rash decisions that all just happened at the heat of the moment.

But today, I see it as:

I learned how good of a uni UST is.

I learned the principles of understanding your audience, the purpose of work and empathy in journalism.

I learned how to manage a website, manage events, understand business, analyze numbers and work professionally in Marketing.

I learned the great values, teachings and mindset that amazing international and foreign ethnicities have across Canada.

I am able to save money, money that I would have spent on the inflated prices in Toronto, because I moved to Calgary.

And I love my job.

No one ever told me this, so in case you needed to hear it:

You do not have to plan 10 years ahead. “What do you want to do when you grow up?” is a cliché.

Be open to learning and growing and change. It WILL be overwhelming and exhausting, but every chapter has a lesson worth learning.
