Generosity is taught

When I was in high school, my mom would prepare a bag of snacks for me daily, with stuff like jelly aces, wiggles, or hello panda, plus lunches—nice lunches, like rice with adobo or tinola.

Yeah, I’d share. It came to the point where my friends n classmates would negotiate who would get what snack, and some would also ask for some soup ie sabaw for their meals.

I told my mom about it and instead of getting mad, she started packing me 2 bags of snacks and told me to give one away, and keep one for myself.

She also started making me bring big-ass 1-2L tupperwares of ulam so there would be enough to go around.

Spending 2x the money and effort feeding kids you don’t even know is not easy but she did it anyway, even when I never asked for it.

Today, both my parents still take care of my friends whenever they can—and for that, my friends look up to them, too.

So yeah, when I say I have high standards if I were to become a parent, that’s what I mean.

Generosity goes a long way, friends. Teach it to your offsprings.
