Four years ago at Centennial College, we had this one classmate, a UX Designer (a really good one), and one day she showed the class her mock ups and a presentation… everyone in the room went “whoah.”
We were all so impressed. I was so envious of her skills. I wanted that same reaction, so bad.
Yesterday, now at Waterloo, my group mates gave me a lot of great compliments for a presentation I designed for us, and it reminded me of her, that designer at Centennial.
Point is: We are allowed to feel envious and jealous; but let that inspire you to become better, never bitter.
Smart shaming in the Philippines is such a massive crack we have to fill. Allow people to be good at what they do, to feel good about what they do well, and learn from them.
