Hi hi! I’m Karen.
I like solving problems, designing apps, working with good engineers and leaders, Googling random facts, asking ChatGPT random questions, wholesome thoughts, puzzle games, crime and horror shows, cooking, traveling, anime, and tattoos.
Currently based in Calgary, Alberta, working remotely as the Lead Product Designer of an omnichannel internal comms platform (Sparrow Connected).
I also have a Master’s degree in Digital Experience Innovation from the University of Waterloo, and recently found a pursuit in pole dancing and heels dancing.

Professionally speaking…
I think.
I think, then overthink, then think some more, to reach team and company goals with the least amount of risks possible. I ask questions, lots of them. I analyze big and small, and focus on (but go beyond) user experience and user interface.
I am.
As a skilled, efficient and agile jack of all trades in the tech and corporate worlds, I also play a hand in web and graphic design, video editing, marketing, customer experience and management. I am good at being what I need to be to get us to where we need to be.
I solve.
I’m a problem solver who makes things intuitive, convenient, effective, attractive, and hopefully, profitable. I think of what was, what is, and what can be. My responsibility is to strategize and simplify complex solutions, experiences, functions, features, use cases or ideas—designing them into apps or mediums that people can use with ease.
I deliver.
I work with users, engineers, leaders, clients, and stakeholders to deliver actionable results. I work best with Axure, Figma, Adobe, MS DevOps, Miro and the classic pen, paper and sticky notes, but I’m a tinkerer so I’ve used multiple tools in my career, like the ones below.
Which one’s your favourite?
